On March 16th, Beijing time, the 2022 World Table Tennis Major League (WTT) Singapore Grand Slam entered the sixth-day competition. In a men’s doubles semifinal at the end of the afternoon, the Chinese team Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuqin defeated the German team Qiu Dang/Du Da 3-1 (11-7, 11-2, 9-11 and 15-13) to advance to the final.
In the first game, the two sides started the battle with 2 draws. After that, the Chinese combination scored five points in a row to establish an advantage. In the end, Qiu Dang returned the ball and Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuqin won the first game 11-7.
In the rematch, Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuqin started 1-0 and 3-1 ahead. After the opponent pulled a goal back, the Chinese combination was out of control, and after scoring eight points in a row, they won another game 11-2.
In the third game, the two sides started fighting together. After 3 draws, the German combination scored two points in a row, leading 6-3 in the middle game. After that, Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuqin chased three points to equalize the score. Next, the German team scored two points first, and quickly called a timeout after being recovered by the Chinese team. After the suspension, Qiu Dang/Du Da got the game point 10-7, and finally the two regained a victory 11-9.
In the fourth game, the German combination started with a 3-0 lead, and then Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuqin quickly reversed the unfavorable situation and scored three points in a row to tie the score. In the mid-game stage, the two sides scored alternately, and 8 draws entered the final game. At the end of the game, the Germans got the game point 10-9. At the critical moment, Qiu Dang returned the ball, and the two sides fought from 10 to 13. In the end, Wang Chuqin hit consecutive backhands and sealed the victory 15-13.
