Rome, 27 August 2021 – As we already had announced in recent days, today the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, will sign the passage of the Sicily in the yellow zone: is the first region that leaves white. All the rest of Italy instead it will remain in white area for at least another week: so save too Sardinia, the only region that has been in the balance. This is the consequence of overshoot from the island of all three parameters (incidence, occupancy rate of intensive care units and ordinary Cocvid departments) required. Effort certified by weekly monitoring of the ISS which takes into account certified data the previous Tuesday (in our case Tuesday 24 August).
Yellow zone: rules and prohibitions
Summary
The decision indicators annexes to the draft weekly monitoring of the ISS confirm the data of theAgents which updates daily the occupancy rates based on the beds communicated by the Ministry of Health e condemn to yellow la Sicily. The tables – as of August 24 – show the occupancy rate in intensive carea 12.1% (against the 10% threshold) and the occupancy of beds in non-critical medical area 19.4% (against the 15% threshold): exactly those reported by Agenas last Tuesday. It is important to say this because Sicily was a week ago he had avoided the yellow zone was a whisker and a discrepancy on the decimal line between the Agenas data and the official ones of the ministry had not gone unnoticed. As for the 7-day incidence (20-26 August) it is the highest in Italy with 200.7 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants against the threshold of 50.
Instead, you save Sardinia which will remain in white area for at least another week, but she has to be very careful because her numbers of ordinary Covid wards are one step away from overrun. In fact, Sardinia, in addition to having an incidence well above 50 cases (148.5), is short of intensive care (11.2%) but remains at 14% of the ordinary Codi wards and therefore is saved by a whisker.
On the other hand, no problem for the other regions that remain below the critical thresholds. Worse is Calabria which has an incidence of 101.5, is over in the ordinary wards (15.2%) but is still far away for intensive care (5.9%). Put all the other regions better.
It is difficult to say what will happen from Monday 6 September. Sardinia is obviously at risk. Sicily, as stated in the monitoring of the ISS, risks escalation. Calabria must be careful, while the other regions seem to have a margin.
