“Hi-Rez Studios Announces Launch of Smite 2, a New Action MOBA Game”

Hi-Rez Studios has revealed the highly anticipated launch of “Smite 2,” a new action MOBA game developed by Titan Forge Games. The game is set to be released on PC (Steam/Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and other platforms, with support for Simplified Chinese, Japanese, English, and other languages.

“Smite 2” is scheduled to be free for basic play and will support cross-platform play and cross-platform progress sharing. It serves as the latest sequel to the third-person perspective action MOBA game “Smite,” which was initially launched in 2014. The new game will continue to feature 5vs.5 group battles and hero shooting, while also introducing various design enhancements. Notably, the game engine will be upgraded from Unreal Engine 3 to 5, promising improved visual effects and performance.

In addition to supporting keyboard, mouse, and joystick operations, “Smite 2” will also be optimized for Steam Deck operations, aiming to provide a more modern and immersive gaming experience.

To the delight of existing players, Hi-Rez Studios has confirmed that “Smite” will continue to operate services and updates. While in-game cosmetics cannot be transferred directly to “Smite 2,” a feedback system will be implemented to reward loyal players. Additionally, players will receive Legacy Gems based on the amount of in-game currency they have used in the previous game, which can be used to purchase cosmetics and other items in “Smite 2.”

The company has also announced plans to offer free appearances based on players’ progress in the original game, although specific details are yet to be revealed.

For those eager to get their hands on “Smite 2,” the game will undergo testing through monthly “weekend alpha tests,” starting in the spring of 2024. Players can participate in the testing experience by logging in through the official website or by purchasing the upcoming “Founder’s Pack” package to secure their testing qualifications.
