AMD officially released the Ryzen 8000F series on the 14th, with a twist – these new processors do not come equipped with a GPU. However, the NPU AI computing feature has been retained, showcasing AMD’s focus on AI technology.
The Ryzen 8000F series includes two models, the Ryzen 5 8400F and Ryzen 7 8700F. The Ryzen 5 8400F features 6 cores, 12 threads, a Base Clock of 4.2GHz, Boost Clock of 4.7GHz, and 6MB L2 and 16MB L3 Cache. The Ryzen 7 8700F, on the other hand, comes with 8 cores, 16 threads, a Base Clock of 4.1GHz, Boost Clock of 5.0GHz, and 8MB L2 and 16MB L3 Cache. Both models have a TDP specification of 65W.
While the GPU unit has been shielded in these processors, the NPU unit remains to support AI computing acceleration. It is worth noting that users will need to use a separate graphics card with the Ryzen 8000F series as they only provide a PCIe 4.0 x8 graphics interface.
The Ryzen 8000F series was actually released in China on April 1 for OEM assembly only, but now the boxed retail versions are available globally. The official prices for the Ryzen 5 8400F and Ryzen 7 8700F are US$189 and US$299, respectively.
This move by AMD shows their commitment to advancing AI technology while providing users with powerful processors for their computing needs. With the Ryzen 8000F series, AMD continues to innovate and cater to the evolving demands of the tech industry.
