Asus Unveils 2024 Zenbook DUO with Dual 14-Inch Touch Screens at CES 2024
At CES 2024, Asus announced the launch of the new 2024 Zenbook DUO model UX8406, featuring a dual-screen design with two 14-inch touch screens. This innovative notebook uses Intel Core Ultra processors and is designed to offer a range of versatile usage options.
This is not the first time Asus has dabbled in the realm of multi-screen design laptops. In 2018, the company demonstrated the Project PRECOG dual-screen design concept notebook, and in 2019, the Zenbook Pro 15 was equipped with a ScreenPad design, which combined the touchpad with the display screen to serve different operating functions. The 2020 launch of the Zenbook DUO placed the second screen, ScreenPad Plus, above the keyboard to add more application possibilities.
Although the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED, a later-released laptop with a foldable screen, maintained a single screen, it also supported a dual-screen display interface through its foldable mechanism, highlighting Asus’s dual-screen display interface design application ideas.
The 2024 Zenbook DUO is composed of two 14-inch touch OLED screens with 3K resolution, supporting a 120Hz screen refresh rate and a 16:10 display ratio. It comes with a detachable keyboard and a stand design on the back of the 90% recycled magnesium aluminum alloy body, allowing for various usage experiences, including general notebook, display mode, desktop, book mode, and an upright dual-screen usage.
The notebook is lightweight, weighing only 1.35 kilograms, and is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor. It can be configured with up to 32GB of memory and up to 1TB of storage capacity. Designed to meet Intel EVO certification, it boasts complete I/O ports, quick wake-up, and long battery life. The dual 14-inch screens adopt Lumina OLED display panel technology, offering bright color display and eye protection.
The built-in stand supports various angles, and the included laptop protective case provides added support for different usage scenarios. The physical keyboard is connected to the notebook through magnetic contacts and can also be connected via Bluetooth.
Asus has also designed different operating gestures for dual-screen usage, including quick access to the virtual keyboard, switching between different functions, and enabling users to easily drag windows across the screens.
Additionally, the company provides an App Switcher for quick application window switching, a ScreenXpert shortcut bar for adjusting screen brightness, and a Task Group for organizing and sharing window collections.
