Become an expert in “AI and sustainability” in one text

Since April 2023, the “AI and Sustainability” channel on te.ma has been highlighting the tension between the potential and risks of AI-based applications for a sustainable future. The result is 43 texts in which our curators and guest authors go into depth about various aspects of the topic: from specific AI applications for more sustainability to our own energy and resource consumption, algorithm-based discrimination and legal regulation. Curator Jan Lause summarizes the most important findings of the last eight months in the so-called discourse hub. Where do the basic ideas of AI research come from and where is it today? Can AI make measurable contributions to greater sustainability in practice, and if so, how? What will AI do to us as a society if it is used across the board? The discourse hub not only provides an overview of the topic channel, but as an interactive long-read format, it also offers readers the opportunity to navigate directly to the sections that interest them.
