BlizzCon will not return in 2023 as an annual event, Blizzard confirms

Fans of Blizzard Entertainment may have to wait a little longer for the return of BlizzCon as an annual event. The California-based developer has confirmed that BlizzCon will not be returning this year, with the company instead focusing on making appearances at specific events already planned for 2023.

One of the events where Blizzard will make an appearance is Gamescom in August, with potential news also expected at the Xbox Games Showcase in June. Blizzard has hinted at exciting announcements to come, including details about upcoming releases such as World of Warcraft: War Within and Diablo IV’s first expansion, Ships of Hate.

While BlizzCon may not be happening in 2023, Blizzard reassured fans that they are still committed to bringing the event back in the future. The company also revealed plans for multiple global esports events, including the Overwatch Champions Series in Dallas and Stockholm, along with face-to-face events to celebrate Warcraft’s 30th anniversary.

Despite the absence of BlizzCon this year, Blizzard remains optimistic about the future: “We’re as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back for years to come.” Fans can expect more updates and announcements in the coming months as Blizzard continues to engage with its community in new and special ways.
