Squid Shock Studios Announces Upcoming Release of “Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus”
The highly anticipated Metroidvania-like action-adventure game “Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus” is currently in development by the Thai independent team Squid Shock Studios and is scheduled to be released by Humble Games on PC Steam/Nintendo Switch/PS5/Xbox Series X|S in 2024. The official launch date has been announced for July 18th in European and American time zones, and July 19th in Asian time zones. The Steam version and other versions are set to support Simplified Chinese and other languages.
“Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus” promises to be a captivating side-scrolling action-adventure game based on Japanese folklore and inspired by classic works such as “Okami”, “The Hidden Girl”, and “Magic Princess”. Players will take on the role of “Bō”, a fox celestial flower on a mission to complete a mysterious ritual passed down from ancient times. The game will immerse players in a world rich with Japanese aesthetics and culture.
The game will feature hand-painted art scenes, showcasing various Japanese landscapes including caves, cursed castles, and bustling metropolises. Players will engage in combat with monsters using “Bō’s” magical cane and will have the opportunity to explore levels using various movement actions and high-end skills.
During the journey, players will encounter monster NPCs who offer tasks and rewards, unlocking new abilities for “Bō’s” cane and expanding exploration possibilities. Additionally, players can utilize Bodhidharma statues, talismans, and equipment to enhance combat experiences and discover powerful skills to aid them in their adventure.
