Sega Announces Five New Games at The Game Awards

During The Game Awards in December, Sega made a surprise announcement by revealing five new games based on some of their most popular franchises. The games include Golden Ax, Jet Radio, Ninjago, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi.

Crazy Taxi, in particular, gained popularity after its release in 1999. The game, which focused on getting customers to their desired destinations, became an arcade favorite. However, it only featured one world and was designed to be a bite-sized experience.

The announcement of a new Crazy Taxi game has sparked interest among fans. The game’s developer, Sapporo Studio, mentioned in a recent interview with The Japan Times (via Nintendo Life) that they are working on the development of “Triple-A games including Crazy Taxi.”

The news has left fans speculating about what the modernization of Crazy Taxi will entail. While better graphics are expected, the addition of new gameplay features is up for debate. Some fans are cautious, recalling how Sega’s attempt to add new features in the sequel almost ruined the simple and genius concept of the original game.

As the series receives a reboot, fans are eager to see how Crazy Taxi will be modernized while maintaining the essence of the beloved arcade game.
