Newzoo Reveals Top Console and PC Games of Q1 2024

As we unconsciously pass the first third of the year 2024, data research company Newzoo has released rankings of the top-performing consoles and PC games in the European and American markets in the first quarter of the year. The data not only covers actual sales performance but also dives into in-app purchases and advanced payment options for major games in North America, as well as the five largest European game markets: the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy.

According to Newzoo’s data, the free battle royale shooting game “Fortress Heroes” from Epic Games took the top spot in terms of operating revenue, accounting for a significant 10% of overall game revenue in the first quarter. Following closely behind in Europe was the popular football game “EA Sports FC 24″, which accounted for 8.3% of the revenue.

The third spot on the list went to the multiplayer cooperative PvE game “Battlefield 2”, which has been the center of discussion recently. Activision Blizzard’s “Decisive Call: Modern” took the fourth spot, followed by “NBA 2K24” in fifth place.

New releases also made their mark, with “Battlefield 2” leading the pack in terms of sales performance. Capcom’s “Dragon’s Doctrine 2” and the hit “Phantom Pallu” followed in second and third place respectively. WWE 2K24 and “Persona 3 Reload” rounded out the top five.

“Fortress Heroes” emerged as the top console game in the European and American markets, while “Battlefield 2” and “Phantom Pallu” topped the PC platform in terms of operating revenue. Newzoo’s data also revealed that the global game market’s total output value in 2023 reached $184 billion, a slight increase from the previous year but a 5% decrease from 2022. Forecasts indicate that the gaming market is expected to grow to $189.3 billion in 2024 and reach $205.7 billion by 2026.
