Digitalization and transformation at Procurement Forum 2024

IKN Italy Procurement Forum 2024: the seventh edition will deal with new trends, including Open Innovation, e-procurement and innovative risk management models.

The event will be held on March 20th and will be dedicated to the comparison between Italian and international CPO, CFO, Buyer and IT Manager. The collapse of transits in the Suez Canal, due to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, has a strong impact on the activity of our companies which complain about delays in deliveries, increased costs of raw materials and transport, and supply difficulties.

In this part of the Red Sea there are geopolitical tensions that have repercussions on global trade and, consequently, on the relationship between CPOs, CFOs, & IT who must face rising prices: There will be several debates that will deal with this topic and the impact on corporate choices.

The event will also be an opportunity to explore the competitive advantages on the market thanks to the approach Open Innovation nell’e-procurement: the discussion will focus, in particular, on the ways to standardize the platforms for all the various stakeholders involved, on how the data influences the entrepreneurial choice and what are the strategic decisions that lead to AI instead of human intelligence.

Another very current topic that will be addressed at the Procurement Forum is represented by the new operational risk management models aimed at forecasting supply/demand, mitigating the unexpected and mapping supplier scoring: this is a necessity dictated by inflation and market volatility. In fact, in the situation we are experiencing it is necessary to review the synergies, as we are faced with a corporate role, that of the CPO, which must increasingly deal with the finance and risk management area to improve risk-return.

Sustainability is one of the drivers – together with digitalisation and synergies between stakeholders – of the sector transformation: it represents a priority value for companies, which seek to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. Digital transformation in business processes must, in fact, be guided by a sustainability plan that respects the ESG rating of suppliers.

On the occasion of the appointment, the results of the survey “The role and soft skills of the CPO 2024 between resilience and change” will be presented, focused on: the essential soft skills in purchasing processes; the expectations of the CFO, IT managers and sales directors from Chief Procurement Officer; how digital innovation, AI, spend analysis, ESG criteria and sustainability plans influence the purchasing process.

On the occasion of the event, IKN Italy, drawing on its many years of experience in middle management training and information, selects, celebrates and enhances the Chief Procurement Officers who have distinguished themselves for Leadership and Innovation throughout the year.
The Best CPO 2024 award will be presented to CPO which: has demonstrated its ability to create new sustainable paradigms, from a Digital Transformation perspective, has implemented a Data Governance strategy to streamline the procurement process, and which has developed process and purchasing digitalisation solutions.
