Microsoft’s Windows 11 Update to Include Microsoft Store Ads in “Start” Menu

Microsoft recently announced that it has completed testing and will be rolling out Microsoft Store app advertisements in the “Start” menu of Windows 11 through updates. This move comes after initial testing a few weeks ago, where a small group of well-planned developers’ apps were showcased in the “Recommended” section of the “Start” menu.

According to the update notes for Windows 11, the purpose of these ads is to help users discover more apps while benefiting Windows app developers. During the testing phase, Microsoft observed the community’s response and found little opposition. Furthermore, users will have the option to turn off these ads in the settings by disabling the display of recommended items.

The addition of Microsoft Store ads to the “Start” menu in Windows 11 marks a significant change in the user experience. While some may view it as a way to promote apps and support developers, others may see it as an intrusion into the operating system’s interface.
