Facelift Renault Captur

Since its market launch ten years ago, the Renault Captur has been sold more than two million times. Now the model, which is important for the manufacturer, is getting a comprehensive overhaul. After the Clio, it is the next vehicle on the group’s CMF-B platform to adopt the new design language from Renault design boss Gilles Vidal. The front is now steeper in the wind and is more angular. Flatter headlights and new LED daytime running lights characterize the modernized face.

At the rear, everything remains the same apart from a new diffuser element and an unelegantly housed reversing camera. The city SUV is offered in three equipment variants, the sporty “Alpine Esprit” being new. The wheels are 17 to 19 inches. Depending on the equipment, six body colors and four roof colors can be largely combined; the champagne color “mother-of-pearl beige” is new.

Suspension, shock absorbers and steering revised

The cockpit receives new infotainment based on the new “Android Automotive 12” operating system and integrates Google services. Up to 10.25-inch driver displays and a 10.4-inch central screen are new, but Captur customers still have to do without a head-up display. New upholstery is expanded to include colored seams and decorative inlays in the higher equipment levels. The long-legged Clio doesn’t get any bigger with the facelift; the trunk volume remains at a maximum of 616 liters (hybrid: 418 liters), provided the rear seat is pushed forward.

There are three petrol engines with three and four cylinders to choose from, two of which are mild hybrids, a self-charging full hybrid and a LPG variant. The performance range is between 90 and 160 hp. In addition to the suspension, Renault has also revised the shock absorbers and the steering and offers up to 28 assistance systems, including semi-autonomous driving to Level 2.

Due to increased competition, the Captur is expected to become cheaper, and Renault hopes this will increase sales figures. However, exact information about the price has not yet been given. The market launch should be at the end of June this year.
