Spotify announces a new feature designed to expand the music experience on the platform: the ability to watch music videos directly on Spotify.
Those: Spotify
Today, the Swedish streaming provider Spotify announced that in the future it will also be possible to play complete music videos in Full HD. The new feature is currently in a testing phase (beta) and is only available to a small selection of specific artists. The test is running in a total of 11 countries: Great Britain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, the Philippines, India and Kenya. The artist catalog currently includes music videos from artists such as Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat and Ice Spice. There will also be videos from local artists. Spotify would of course like to expand the selection in the future.
Here’s how it works
According to Spotify, premium users have access to the new update.
The music video feature is available from the Now Playing screen for the supported tracks. A “Switch to video” symbol should then appear above the song title. Tapping it will restart the song and the music video will play in the center of the screen. This feature will be available for both iOS and Android devices and will allow the music video to be viewed in full screen mode. Tapping again takes you back to the usual user interface. The new function is also available for desktop and TV devices. So you can enjoy your favorite videos in full size in the future.
However, it is not yet known when the update will officially be available to all Spotify Premium users.
