Apparently the next part of the Battlefield series is already in the starting blocks. But an announcement from EA boss Andrew Wilson doesn’t seem to be met with enthusiasm among the community.

Work on a new Battlefield title already seems to be in full swing. In a conversation with analysts, EA boss Andrew Wilson says he just spent a lot of time with the Battlefield team and played the game. He mentioned that it would be another “great” live service title.
But this statement doesn’t seem to go down particularly well with the community. The term “live service” is seen by many as a means of over-commercialization and pay-to-win mechanisms. Therefore, the enthusiasm of many players is limited. Under a X-Post by moderator Goeff Keighley, EA CEO Wilson’s statement has already received many negative comments.

Since the end of 2021, the former lead developer of the Call of Duty series, Vincent Zampella, has been responsible for Battlefield at EA. Shortly after the release of Battlefield 2042, plans for a Battlefield universe were announced. This was intended to be a persistent online world with multiplayer and solo content in different time periods. A job advertisement followed in the summer of 2022 in which EA was looking for a design director who would develop a “masterfully designed single-player campaign” for the next Battlefield.
Wilson also mentioned that currently the “largest team in Battlefield history” working on the brand. In addition to the developer studio Dice, which is traditionally responsible for the action series, Motive (Dead Space Remake), Criterion and Ripple Effect are also involved. These two teams have already delivered content for Battlefield 2042. The next part of the Battlefield series is supposed to be presented this year. A suitable opportunity would be Summer Game Fest at the beginning of June.
