Artificial intelligence is everywhere. It is now a brand present on products where it makes more or less sense, from smartphones to toothbrushes. Leaving aside the difference, which may be technical but essential, between machine learning and real AI, there are not many examples where the latter plays a truly primary role when integrated. Narwal’s Freo X Ultra is the exception. This is yet another home robot for vacuuming and washing floors, which makes AI an important ally in standing out from the crowd. How? Under the name AI DirtSense, the company originally from Hong Kong, which over time has consolidated itself in markets such as the United States, South Korea and Australia, incorporates a series of innovations that promise to improve the experience of using Freo X Ultra, a top-of-the-range model that joins the Freo and Freo One case is the passage on particularly difficult stains, which do not go away immediately. Unlike other competitors, who once covered an area do not go back, Narwal’s AI is able to understand when the floor is not completely clean, insisting on the stains until they are eliminated. AI DirtSense works not only when cleaning the house but also the consumable elements of the robot, the mops, i.e. the two rotating brushes that wash. If the sensors realize that these are too dirty and would risk ruining the work done, they tell the Freo X Plus to go back, wash them and then pick up where they left off. In this way the activity takes longer but is also more flexible and aimed at truly returning the rooms to clean rooms. Furthermore, speed is a strong point of the product: it only takes a few minutes to map the environments for the first time, with extreme precision: the app, for Android and iOS, always recognizes the transition from one room to another , making it very simple to identify the areas of the home to be renamed as you prefer. A peculiarity of the Narwal Freo application is the degree, at times disarming, of possible customization. Once the house has been mapped, even in 3D, you can choose whether to vacuum or wash or carry out both operations, which can follow one another or be alternated. Here too there is the inference of artificial intelligence in Freo Mode which finds realization in Freo Mind, the “mind” of the robot that autonomously decides what is best to do, based on the previous chronology to adapt the cleaning strategy. The AI also remembers the position of the largest obstacles on the map so, if we move a piece of furniture, the robot will not avoid the previously occupied space but will go there on purpose, assuming that there is more dust there and therefore it is necessary to perform more maneuvers. All with the advantage of having vocal feedback, also in Italian, which informs you about the most important events, from the end of the activity to any blockages, albeit rare thanks to the anti-tangle brush, from the absence of clean water to the tray full of that dirty. The plus? The laser sensors, including a lateral one which is unique in the sector and the presence, in the sales package, of a special detergent which must be inserted, upside down, in correspondence with the basket with clean water. The Freo X Ultra will then be able to sip it in the tank, for an even more complete, AI-proof wash.
