Microsoft to Launch New Permanent Buyout Version of Microsoft Office in Fall
Judging from the release time of previous versions, Microsoft is expected to launch a new permanent buyout version of Microsoft Office this fall, which is different from the subscription version of Microsoft 365. The permanent buyout version can be used continuously after purchasing a license without renewal and can be used in an offline environment.
Originally, the main products of the permanent buyout version were Office Professional Edition (Professional Plus), Office Home and Student Edition, and Office Standard Edition. However, this year Microsoft seems to be adjusting the product names.
If you have installed and deployed Microsoft Office 2024 Home and Student Edition through Office Tool Plus, you may notice that the version name has changed to Microsoft Office Home 2024 in Settings, About, and Startup. This name should have been Microsoft Office Home and Student 2024 before. It is unclear why Microsoft decided to remove “Student” from the home and student editions, but there is no change in the version functions.
While these versions are still in testing, it is possible that Microsoft will make further changes before the official release. However, it is unlikely that Microsoft will release a separate Microsoft Office Student 2024 version.
In recent years, Microsoft had indicated that Office 2021 would be the last stand-alone Office product, with future releases to be subscription-based through Microsoft 365. However, Microsoft is now expected to continue providing buyout stand-alone options for its Office applications with the upcoming release of Office 2024.
Microsoft Office users can look forward to the new permanent buyout version this fall, offering a non-subscription option for accessing the popular Office suite. Stay tuned for more updates as Microsoft finalizes the details of the upcoming release.
