Windows 12 hasn’t even been officially announced by Microsoft yet, but that hasn’t stopped enthusiasts from imagining what the next Windows might look like. A concept artist shows his vision on YouTube – and Microsoft is welcome to take a leaf from it.

Windows 12: Concept artist presents his vision
Let’s be honest: Windows 11 didn’t get off to a particularly good start. Even more than two years after its release, most users still prefer to rely on its predecessor, Windows 10. So is it time for Microsoft to ditch Windows 11 and think about what the successor could look like?
The enthusiastic concept artist AR 4789 has already answered the last question. He published a video on his YouTube channel that shows: How he thinks the new Windows 12 could be designed – it’s worth taking a look:

What immediately catches the eye: the YouTuber’s OS concept works purified and tidier than Windows 11. There is no taskbar at the bottom of the screen, just a small tile strip in the middle that can also be used to open the start menu. Without the taskbar, users would have to change the windows either by clicking directly within the eponymous “Windows”, using the key combination ALT + TAB or clicking on the “Active Applications” button.
However, there is one at the top of the screen central Bing search bar anchored, which is flanked on the left by a small weather widget. The quick settings can now be found on the top right side of the screen. These were also reimagined by the concept artist. They seem to be made from a single mold and almost have an iOS or macOS character.
In the system settings, the concept has not changed much in terms of functionality compared to Windows 11, but the design appears more uniform here too. The sound output can, for example, be between different devices via tiles with matching icons can be changed instead of having to use a boring bullet point selection.
AR 4789 has also thought about the integration of AI. For example, he shows that you could use Windows Copilot to to generate a new desktop wallpaper in no time. The drag-and-drop behavior also changes in his vision of Windows 12. If, for example, you want to use an image from the file explorer in the text editor that is already open, you can briefly hold the file with the left mouse button until the active ones Arrange applications next to each other in small windows, then drag the image file over the program of your choice, wait briefly until the program window is enlarged and then release the image file at the appropriate location.
It remains to be seen whether these or just some of the functions can really be implemented as easily as they can be seen in the video. At the moment, Microsoft doesn’t seem to be finished with Windows 11 yet. Instead, the focus has been set for the next major update of the operating system:
