The Esports World Cup 2024 is set to be the gaming event of the year. Those responsible are spending a lot of money on this. A total of around $60 million in prize money will be distributed to the participants.

Where does the money come from? The answer comes from the venue. The Esports World Cup 2024 will be held in Saudi Arabia. The country has various projects in the pipeline to improve its global reputation. This includes, among other things, a new theme park in the style of Dragon Ball.
The World Cup is scheduled to take place this summer and will cover the currently biggest esports titles. These include, for example, Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, Dota 2, Apex Legends, Fortnite and EA Sports FC 24. A total of 20 different tournaments are planned over a period of eight weeks. By the way, the spectacle is organized by ESL, which was taken over by a Saudi investor at the beginning of 2022.
In addition to the individual tournaments, there will also be a so-called club championship. The teams can collect points across games and thus fight as large organizations for overall victory. As part of this club championship alone, 20 million US dollars are to be distributed.
The remaining prize money will be divided into three further categories. There is a separate prize pool for each of the 20 tournaments with a total of over 33 million US dollars. In addition, an MVP (Most Valuable Player) is awarded in each tournament, who receives $50,000 for their performance. More than $7 million will be awarded before the tournaments begin as teams compete in the qualifying phase.
