Apparently Pocket Pair’s surprise hit only knows extremes. Now Palworld has broken another record on Steam – but it is far less positive than the previous records.

If you fly high, you can also fall low. The best example of this is the survival game Palworld. After climbing to the top of the Steam charts in a very short time, the number of players is now rapidly declining. In just two weeks, Palworld lost around 1.3 million players – more than any other game before.

Admittedly, in order to set this record, you first need a corresponding player base. And since there have only been three other games in Steam’s history that have had more than 1.3 million simultaneous players, the possible competition is quite manageable.

Lost Ark, Counter-Strike 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds are also well away from their peaks these days, but were at least able to maintain their initial hype longer than Palworld. But why is that?

Quite apart from the fact that every hype dies down at some point, Palworld has the disadvantage that it is neither an MMO nor a competitive or service game. Instead, the game is still in the early access phase and the content is correspondingly limited. Many players have probably already seen everything the game currently has to offer.

With upcoming updates, the number of players could skyrocket again. The developers have already published concrete plans. We have summarized what awaits you in the future in this article. However, it is extremely questionable whether the all-time high of more than 2.1 million simultaneous players can be achieved again.
