If you have an Asus computer, you can press a specific key when the system boots to open the BIOS. This is necessary, for example, to update the BIOS. We’ll show you how to do this here.
Open Asus BIOS with key
Turn off your PC if it is still turned on. Then hold down the F2 key while you press the Power-Taste press.Hold the F2 key still presseduntil you see the BIOS screen with the setting options. Depending on the model, pressing the F9 or Del key can also be sufficient.

It’s best to look at the corners of your screen during the boot process. All keys to open the BIOS or the boot menu are usually displayed there. Alternative You can also open the BIOS from Windows 10 or Windows 11, as we show in these instructions:
When you open the boot menu, you can determine which drive the computer should boot from (hard drive, USB stick, CD drive, network, …).
If you have one Laptop If you have one, press the ESC or DEL key shortly after starting. If these keys don’t work or you have one Desktop-PC If you have one, press the F8 key instead. Before doing so, you will probably have to restart the computer because you only have a short time to press the correct key during the boot process.
Asus: Perform BIOS update
There are three methods to perform a BIOS update on an Asus computer:
in the BIOS menu with the program “ASUS EZ Flash 3”.in Windows per „EZ Update“.mit Shutdown-Status (USB-BIOS-Flashback).
However, the third method only works on certain Asus models. Below we show the most common methods 1 and 2.
Download update file
First find out your motherboard model. Open the “ASUS Download Center” website and enter your motherboard model in the search mask. Then click on “Drivers & utilities“ and below it on “BIOS & Firmware“.Search under “BIOS“ for the current BIOS update file and click next to it Downloadbutton to select the associated one ZIP file to download. There may not be a BIOS file available for download for your model. Extract the ZIP file in Windows. Copies the contents of the ZIP file to a USB stick. Install update file
Plug the USB stick into your Asus PC and start the BIOS as we described above (keep the F2 key pressed and briefly press the power button). When you see the BIOS screen, press the F7 key Start advanced mode. Alternatively, click on the words “at the bottom right.”Advance Modus“ (English: Advanced Mode).Now click on the menu item “ at the topTool“ and left to “ASUS EZ Flash 3 utility“ (English: ASUS EZ Flash 3 Utility). Now select the update variant USB-Stick (English: via Storage Devices).Select the USB stick on the left and the one on the right CAP-Datei. Confirmed with the button “YES“.The update process must not be interrupted, otherwise in the worst case your computer will no longer boot! Wait until you see the message that the process was successful (English: Update successfully! System will be reset!) and confirm with “OK“, This will reset the BIOS settings to default values. If the update didn’t work, you can repeat the method and use the option “via Storage Devices” instead of the USB stick.via Internet“ > „DHCPSelect “ to search for an update file over the Internet and then automatically download and install it.
Method 2: Update Asus firmware in Windows
Open the “ASUS Download Center” website, enter your motherboard model and download the “AI Suite 3” program and the associated BIOS update file. “AI Suite 3” may not be offered for your BIOS model. Then use method 1 above to update. Install the “AI Suite 3” program by unpacking the ZIP file and double-clicking on the “AsusSetup.exe“ click and with “Install” confirmed. Windows will then restart. Unzip yours BIOS update file with the CAP file contained therein and starts the program “AI Suite 3“.Click on the menu symbol on the left side of the program three bars (☰) and selects “NO Update“.Click below at “Manually update Boot logo or BIOS“ on the button with the three points (…) and selects the CAP-Datei off. Confirm with the button “Update” and “Flash“. Confirm again with the button “OK“.Windows will then automatically restart to update your BIOS. This process should not be interrupted, otherwise your system may become unusable! If the update was successful, click on “OK“.
