HMD Launches New Nokia Feature Phones Despite Brand Transition
Mobile phone manufacturer HMD announced plans to transition away from launching products under the Nokia brand, opting to operate under its own brand instead. However, the company surprised consumers by launching the 2024 versions of Nokia 6310, 5310, and 230 feature phones on November 11th.
The Nokia 6310 (2024) retains its familiar appearance but has streamlined color options, now only available in black and dark green. It features a 2.8-inch LCD screen, a 300,000-pixel lens with flash, a larger 1450 mAh battery, and a USB-C port for charging. The pure standby battery life can last up to 27 days.
Similarly, the Nokia 5310 (2024) maintains its design from the 2020 model, with black and white color options and multimedia control keys on the side. It also shares specifications with the Nokia 6310, including the 2.8-inch screen, 300,000-pixel camera, 1450 mAh battery, and USB-C port.
The Nokia 230 (2024) is a revamped version of the 2015 model, featuring a redesigned appearance with camera, flash, and microphone modules integrated into an oval frame. It boasts a 2-megapixel camera on both the front and rear, with similar features to the other models.
Despite these updates, it’s important to note that HMD’s new feature phones only support 2G mobile communication, making them unavailable in regions where 2G networks have been discontinued, like Taiwan. This may pose a challenge for consumers looking to purchase these devices, as they may need to seek out parallel importers to obtain them.
With these new releases potentially being the last wave of products under the Nokia trademark, collectors and fans of the brand may want to act quickly to secure these feature phones before they become obsolete.
