The manufacturer realme, which is part of the BBK Electronics group (the same as Oppo and OnePlus) accelerates in Italy and tries to raise the bar on the photography front in the very crowded smartphone segment. Two mobile phones arriving in Italy: realme 12 Pro and Pro +. We have tried the model and confirm its cameraphone vocation. In fact, on the hardware front there is nothing to complain about and the design is also eye-catching and precious. You have to like it but it’s definitely something new.

What’s new?

However, there are two new features: the entry into the mid-range of a true telephoto lens and a 200 Mp camera. We are talking about the periscope telephoto lens present only on the 12 Pro +, thanks to a 3X optical zoom, equivalent to a focal length of 71 mm, and a half-inch OV64B sensor, the largest in its category. Its Omnifocal Photography System also includes a Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS for night images and an ultra-wide-angle camera. This combination offers a zoom range of 0.6X to 6X, ensuring clarity and detail at all focal lengths, and is complemented by a digital zoom of up to 120X. Compared to the (high-end) competition, you can finally use the phone even from afar. The photos are clear and of good quality but naturally they should not be compared with iPhone, Samsung and other top of the range but they are close.

What’s inside.

Inside the realme Pro + you will find a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal memory. While the battery chosen by Realme is a 5,000mAh with wired charging at 67W, common to both. The display is the same for both models and is a 6.7-inch Amoled with 1080 x 2412 pixel resolution with 394 PPI, 120Hz refresh rate and maximum brightness of up to 950 nits.

The new filters and the classy watch look.

Realme has announced the collaboration with the director of photography Claudio Miranda, a Chilean of Italian origins who won an Oscar for best photography in 2013. It also introduces innovative features like Cinematic Filters, inspired by award-winning films like “Life of Pi,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” allowing users to create photos with an artistic, professional feel. They are fun as is the look. But you have to like it. Here too there is a partnership involved. This time with Ollivier Savéo, famous for collaborations with Swiss watch brands such as Rolex, Roger Dolby, Piaget, Breitling and Quinting. The result is a golden fluted lamp reminiscent of the intricate designs of luxury watches. As mentioned, it’s a bit flashy and you have to like it. Finally, the Submarine Blue and Navigator Beige colors are beautiful.

And now the price.

Watch out for promotions. Realme 12 Pro+ 5G will be available starting from €499.99 for the 8GB+256GB variant while the 12 Pro 5G will be priced from €399.99 for the 8GB+256GB variant and from €449.99 for the 12GB+256GB. However, the 12 Pro 5G and the 12 Pro + 5G are launched with an early bird promotional price of one hundred euros less. Which makes it really, really interesting.
