With their startup Skeetoo, Kathrin Buchinger-Schlader and Daniela Geert want to offer a natural alternative to conventional gel sprays. Your solid shower soap not only promises protection from little pests, but also sets an example for sustainability and environmental protection.
The idea behind Skeetoo
With over 50 different species of Gelsen in Austria, the need for effective repellents is great. Buchinger-Schlader and Schwanz, former classmates at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, decided to take on this challenge as part of a study project. The idea for Skeetoo arose from the need to find an environmentally friendly solution that was not only effective, but also gentle on the skin and addressed concerns about traditional chemicals.
From project to startup
What started as a Prosecco breakfast and a spontaneous idea quickly developed into a business concept. With the name Skeetoo, a combination of Skin and Mosquito, the founders focused entirely on skin-friendliness and gel repellent. By working with a leading mosquito research laboratory in Regensburg, they were able to confirm the effectiveness of their soaps and take the step into self-employment.

Skeetoo currently offers solid shower gel in two different scents: “Naturally Fruity” with a grapefruit scent and “Invigorating Fresh” with a mint aroma. Both variants are based on natural ingredients and essential oils, which not only protect against gels, but also offer a pleasant shower experience. The shower soaps are also available in travel sizes. The current price for the everyday size (100 grams) is 4.99 euros. Skeetoo is vegan, plastic and palm oil free.
The founders plan to expand their range to include additional cosmetic products such as body lotion and sunscreen in order to offer their customers a holistic solution. Skeetoo’s success has so far been based on equity capital and initial funding from the FFG. Now the founders are determined to continue growing and are actively looking for investors to further advance their vision of a natural gel defense system.
