Ancient King Rises to Rebuild His Kingdom in New Retro-Style Puzzle Game “Rise of the Kings”

In a new retro-style puzzle game titled “Rise of the Kings,” players are thrown into the role of a king who awakens from a deep slumber to find his kingdom ravaged by a mysterious disease. Inspired by the classic Legend of Zelda series, this game is produced by Egg or Chicken Games and published by Alawar.

The storyline revolves around the king’s journey to collect resources, unlock his true power, eradicate plague creatures, and purify the land in order to restore the kingdom to its former glory. The land is infested with monsters created from the soul fragments of those who succumbed to the disease, and players must navigate through the ruins to rebuild and fight off the evil forces.

The gameplay is reminiscent of Metroidvania-style adventures, with a pixelated retro aesthetic that pays homage to early Zelda games. Players must strategically collect resources, upgrade skills, and unlock new weapons while completing tasks to rebuild and repair abandoned huts to attract new residents to settle in the kingdom.

“Rise of the Kings” features a day and night switching system, where players must balance exploration with rest to avoid risks and navigate the treacherous landscape. The game is set to be released on Steam on April 18 and will support Traditional Chinese language options.

Fans of retro-style puzzle games and classic adventure games like the Legend of Zelda series are sure to enjoy “Rise of the Kings” for its nostalgic feel and captivating gameplay. Players can immerse themselves in the role of the awakened king as they embark on a quest to restore life and vitality to a kingdom lost to darkness.
