Hooded Horse Announces Early Access Release of Real-Time Strategy Game “Empires of the Undergrowth”
Game publisher Hooded Horse has recently announced the availability of the early access real-time strategy game Empires of the Undergrowth, developed by the independent team at Slug Disco. The game is now available on PC through platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.com, with the official version set to be launched on June 7th.
In Empires of the Undergrowth, players will have the opportunity to build their own ant empire in a microscopic world. They will be tasked with constructing complex nests, managing the ant colony hierarchy, and experiencing real-time strategy gameplay from a unique microscope perspective. Players must control a variety of ant warriors in intense battles, command worker ants to build and expand the empire, and protect the queen at all costs while navigating through the insect world‘s challenges and opportunities.
The game has been in early access since 2017, with continuous updates adding new ant species, enemy creatures, environments, and tasks. Empires of the Undergrowth has garnered high praise from Steam users, and the development team is now gearing up for the official version release. The main storyline will be set in the African savannah, home to the Matabele ants, who possess special medicinal properties that aid in colony recovery and food management. Players will encounter dangerous foes such as scorpions, spiders, and beetles throughout the game.
In addition to the campaign mode, players can look forward to starting the “New Game+” mode, which introduces new challenges for the Matabele ants. Custom game modes and quality of life improvements will also be made available in the official version. A detailed roadmap for version 1.0 will be announced in the future to keep players informed and prepared for the game’s full release.
