Tekken 8 is certainly the most accessible title in the thirty-year-old fighting game series. The tutorials are easy, the Arcade mode is also easy for novices and the summaries that retrace the rather complicated stories of the fighters are useful. And the relationships between them. Tekken is one of the most technical and beloved games, unapproachable if you don’t know anything or are not a fan of the genre. There are many new developments and they are all positive. Starting from the Heat system which allows you to accumulate energy during combat to get to the new characters. All interesting, in any case we find the Italian Claudio Serafino who seems a bit senseless. The only negative note is the multiplayer which needs to be tidied up a bit. Let’s see what’s new and what’s changed.

We have to be more aggressive

Tekken has historically been a defensive fighting game. The reason is that it uses automatic blocking, and therefore you have more effective defensive options. It means that you are safe from most hits unless you are actively pushing forward or pressing an attack button. Aggression is encouraged in this title.

Why is it the most inclusive title?

Thanks to the Arcade mode which was created specifically for players who are starting to play Tekken 8. In this mode, the user is asked to create a digital alter ego and then face a series of fights of increasing difficulty. The battles are easier and allow the player to practice as if he were taking part in a training session. Fighting games are usually very technical and have a fairly high bar. As it should be.

What’s new in Tekken 8.

Tekken 8’s new Heat system has been introduced to make the game even more interesting. This system allows players to accumulate energy during battles and use it to perform special moves. Tekken 8 then also introduces “recoverable health“. After taking damage from certain attacks, you can recover health by going on the offensive, landing attacks, or forcing your opponent to block.

Single player campaign and new characters.

We start with a set of 32 fighters. Furthermore, there is the possibility to customize the appearance of the characters through unlockable objects. As for the gameplay, the learning curve to get good at it is quite steep. So it is good to study the pros and cons of each character. Also noteworthy is the return of the Tekken Ball mode which, as in the past, seems rather senseless but that’s okay. Nice story, not very long but it’s a good starting point.
