State Food and Drug Administration Establishes Cosmetics Standardization Technical Committee
The State Food and Drug Administration has announced the establishment of a Cosmetics Standardization Technical Committee to implement the āCosmetics Supervision and Administration Regulationsā and enhance the formulation and revision of cosmetics standards, including toothpaste.
With 164 members, the committeeās secretariat is housed in the China Institute of Food and Drug Control. It comprises of functional members from the State Food and Drug Administration and the China Institute of Food and Drug Control.
The committee is divided into eight sub-technical committees, each with its own secretariat. These include committees focusing on general technical requirements, raw materials and packaging materials, safety evaluation, human safety and efficacy evaluation, and product inspection and testing.
Notably, there are also sub-technical committees specifically dedicated to toothpaste, with one overseeing general requirements and another focusing on inspection and testing. The secretariats of these sub-committees are located in various institutions across China.
This move by the State Food and Drug Administration aims to improve the quality and safety standards of cosmetics, including toothpaste, for consumers. The committee will play a crucial role in ensuring that the industry adheres to the necessary regulations and guidelines.
