These five Android apps can empty your bank account: be careful

New year, new malicious apps targeting your bank account arrive Android. These were reported by ThreadFabric researchers who promptly analyzed the reports received by the team dedicated to identifying threats that fall within the campaign He turned on the Trojan.

These five apps have already been appropriately removed from the Play Store, but it is possible that once installed they remained on the devices of some unfortunate people. The apps equipped with this trojan allow you to take control of your smartphone remotely with the possibility of accessing both personal and financial data, including the bank account.

The five apps in question are:

Phone Cleaner – File Explorer
PDF Viewer – File Explorer
PDF Reader – Viewer & Editor
Phone Cleaner: File Explorer
PDF Reader: File Manager

Until Android 13, unfortunately, these apps were able to bypass security controls, reaching a considerable audience of users, between 150,000 and 200,000 people starting from November 2023 and until they were detected and removed from the Google Play Store.

To avoid risks, we recommend checking your devices as soon as possible, but in Italy you shouldn’t have any problems: the campaign, in fact, seems to have mainly targeted the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.
