Xbox Making Major Improvements to Cloud Gaming System for This Year

Microsoft’s Xbox’s cloud gaming system is currently quite limited in terms of the games available for play. However, the company is working on major improvements to the technology for this year.

In a recent message exchange between NAsburg and Phil Spencer, the Microsoft Gaming boss, it was revealed that players can expect to play its own Xbox games via the cloud sometime this year. When asked about the timeline for having own games available on xCloud, Spencer simply added, “It should be this year.”

It’s important to note that there may be some restrictions on own games offered through xCloud. This is due to the streaming rights for Activision Blizzard games being owned by Ubisoft as part of an agreement to gain approval for a large-scale publisher acquisition. As a result, this will impact and limit how Activision Blizzard games are available on the cloud for Game Pass subscribers for the time being.

These updates come as Xbox continues to prioritize the development of its cloud gaming technology, despite the current limitations. With the cloud gaming system clearly playing a role in the future of gaming, Xbox is dedicated to making significant improvements to the technology in the near future.

Stay tuned for more updates on Xbox’s cloud gaming system as it continues to evolve. Thank you, Windows Central, for providing these insights.
