Helldivers 2 Dominates European Gaming Sales in February 2024

GamesIndustry.biz has released sales information for the European gaming market in February 2024, highlighting the success of Helldivers 2 as the top-selling game of the month. The game surpassed titles like EA Sports FC 24, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, and Grand Theft Auto V to claim the top spot.

While specific sales figures for Helldivers 2 in Europe (excluding UK and German figures) have not been disclosed, it has been reported that approximately 56% of the game’s sales are on the PC platform. The game’s performance has also been noteworthy, with sales increasing by 70% in its second week, experiencing a slight 3% uptick in week three, and then a 28% drop in week four.

The success of Helldivers 2 seems to have had a ripple effect on the console space as well, with overall console sales down by 14% compared to February 2023. The PS5 was the least impacted, only seeing a 2% decrease year-on-year, while the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X/S experienced declines of 17% and 47%, respectively.

In terms of top-selling games for the month, alongside Helldivers 2, titles like EA Sports FC 24, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Grand Theft Auto V, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and Red Dead Redemption 2 made the list. Surprisingly, Need for Speed: Heat also ranked in the top ten. Nintendo games, which lack digital data availability, did not feature in the top-selling list, but Mario vs. Donkey Kong secured the 15th position in terms of physical sales.
