A very strong earthquake, measuring 7.7 hit the Pacific Ocean south-east of New Caledonia, triggering the tsunami warning. According to the US Geological Survey. The quake was detected at a depth of 37 kilometers near the Loyalty Islands: southwest of Fiji, north of New Zealand and east of Australia, where the Coral Sea meets the Pacific. The police forces are driving the population away from the coast.
