Actor Gary Sinise is open about his son’s death: – Heartbroken

On Tuesday, the actor Gary Sinise (68) went out with the news that his son McCanna “Mac” Sinise has died at the age of 33.

Gary Sinise is a familiar face on the television and film screen for many. Many Norwegians will recognize him from his role as Lieutenant Dan Taylor in “Forrest Gump”.

He has also played the main role in the TV series “CSI: New York”, which has been broadcast on TV Norge, and in films such as “The Green Mile” and “Criminal Minds”.

“Heartbroken”

Sinise posted a photo on Instagram, which read “In honor and memory of McCanna ‘Mac’ Sinise 1990-2024”, writes New York Post.

On the website of Sinise’s charity The actor has shared more about the loss of his son.

“Like any family that experiences such a loss, we are devastated and have dealt with it as best we can. As a parent it is so hard to lose a child. My thoughts go out to everyone who has experienced a similar loss, and to everyone who has lost a loved one. We have all experienced it in one way or another,” writes Sinise.

Very rare

“Our family’s battle with cancer lasted 5 ½ years, and it became more and more challenging as time went on. Although it hurts our hearts to miss him, it is comforting to know that Mac is no longer struggling, and we are inspired and moved by how he managed it,” the actor continues.

Sinise’s 33-year-old son had been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer with cancerous tumors called chordomas. Fewer than ten such cases are diagnosed per year in Norway, according to the report Major medical encyclopedias (SNL).

According to Sinise, he is now sharing his son’s story with the hope of “shedding some light on what has been a difficult time”.
