Johnny Depp slips back into the middle of the controversy. The podcast unleashed her Powerful Truth Angels through which the actress Lola Glaudini accused him of, in fact, mistreating her on the set of Blow.
The episode was actually recorded at the beginning of the year, but only a few days ago Glaudini’s words started to make noise. The actress said that the director was on the set of the famous film Ted Demme, who died in 2002, told her to burst out laughing after a line in one of Depp’s monologues. A “stage” laugh which, however, Depp would not have taken very well according to the actress’s story. “He approached me while I was lying on the ground and took me pointed a finger in the face wondering ‘who the fuck do you think you are? Shut the fuck up. I’m trying to say my lines and you’re distracting me, you fucking idiot. Oh now isn’t that funny? Can you shut up now? Stay like this, shut up, f*** ‘”, said the actress, specifying that, given that she was in her first important works after some independent productions and that she was working with the star that she idolized, she tried hard not to start crying.
Again according to Glaudini, Demme did not intervene nor did he say that he had given that direction. After the episode, Depp allegedly called her to her trailer and gave her an “apology, not an apology”, saying he “was tense” during filming. After filming, however, no one “wanted to talk to me” because I was “the bitch” Depp had lashed out at.
Talking with The Hollywood Reporter a spokesperson for Depp denied these claims: “Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with the cast and crew and this account is very different from the account of the other members on set at the time.” Even the sound engineer who worked with Depp, Samuel Sarkar, denied the actress’s story: “I listened to Johnny’s audio to check for any interference, both during rehearsals and during filming. I’ve never heard anything like it.”
