ROMA – The first group of interpreters and family members landed this morning in Fiumicino: there are 82 Afghan civilian collaborators and their families. “Italy does not forget who in recent years in Afghanistan has collaborated with our military”, commented the Minister of Defense Lorenzo Guerini. “The issue of Afghan interpreters has always been particularly close to our hearts. Italy will gradually proceed with the humanitarian transport of Afghan civilian personnel who have supported the Italian contingent over time also in the period prior to the Resolute Support operation”.
