With a wink, the 34-year-old jokingly describes herself as her top athlete’s “partner, cook and household helper.”

The love between the two was particularly tested when Zverev tore a triple ligament at the 2022 French Open and had to undergo long rehab. Thomalla was at his side during this difficult time. It’s no wonder that the athlete no longer wants to be without his lady of hearts at any match, because she is an integral part of his life: “I’m someone who doesn’t let very many people get close to him. But if I let someone close, then he belongs to me. Then he’s like in my family.” He only has two or three very close friends. “But I love her more than anything. It’s the same with my girlfriend. She’s part of the family.”
