Bane NOR with noisy work at Easter – in the middle of the night – Dagsavisen

– This is not the only place to work in Oslo during Easter, and we work during the day as well. The work is continuous around the clock.

That’s what Bane NOR’s press officer, Britt Johanne Wang, says.

Several railway bridges in the Oslo area are reaching the end of their service life and must be replaced. This is ongoing maintenance work in the capital. The old steel girder bridge over the Loelva is now to be replaced with a new steel trough bridge. The workplace is where Arnljot Gelline’s road and Fagerlia meet, according to Bane NOR’s website.

The work will take place from March 28 at 8 pm to March 31 at 3 pm, and it is conceivable that the work will be heard not only there, but in the entire nearby neighborhood.

Wang points out that this is absolutely necessary maintenance work.

– Bridges have a lifespan, and this is about safety, says Wang.

The work is ongoing over Easter, so that, among other things, as few train departures as possible will be affected.

– We are aware that not everyone thinks it is so cool that we should work at night, but we ask for understanding that this is important, she says.

Bane NOR also offers hotels for those who live in the area should the noise become too embarrassing.

– There are quite a few people who accept hotels. But we also find that many people like to stay at home. When it is notified in sufficient time, it also happens that people have left, says Wang.

Didn’t know the work

– No, I can’t say we have been informed about that, says chairman of Lodalen housing association, Paul Gunnar Smith, when Dagsavisen asks if they are aware that the Easter peace will be marked by heavy machinery this year.

– If they have to, then they have to. It’s probably not so cool if there’s too much noise, when we’re not even allowed to use angle grinders or leaf blowers on holidays, says Smith.

He nevertheless understands that the work is important and must be carried out.

– Of course it is understandable. But things can take a bit of time in this country, he says.

Smith points out that residents in the area have previously agreed to hotel stays in connection with similar work, and does not rule out that some will agree to it this time as well.
