M. Emmet Walsh died on Tuesday, March 19, at the age of 88. His manager Sandy Joseph confirmed this. The actor suffered a cardiac arrest in a hospital in the US state of Vermont.

Director Rian Johnson paid tribute to Walsh on “all at once””. Most recently he celebrated him as an “absolute legend”.

Fans also remember the deceased via social media. “When he was cast in a film, you knew straight away: It was going to be good!” says one X user. “This is so sad. I only thought of him yesterday,” commented another user.
He played one of his most famous roles in “Blade Runner”.
Walsh made his film debut in the 1969 musical film “Alice’s Restaurant.” Another highlight followed with “Is something, Doc?”, alongside fellow actors Ryan O’Neal and Barbra Streisand. In 1982, the mime then had a larger role as the hardened police officer Ryant in “Blade Runner” – his participation in Ridley Sott’s sci-fi work would ultimately make him better known internationally.

According to his manager, he appeared in a total of 120 feature films and over 250 television productions.
His current film “Outlaw Posse” was only released in US cinemas on March 1st. For the work, Walsh stood in front of the camera together with Whoopi Goldberg. It is still unclear whether and when there will be a start date for the Western in Germany.
