The legendary tennis player and former coach of Novak Djokovic, Boris Becker, has announced that he is ending his cooperation with Dane Holger Rune. “I would like to inform you that I will immediately step down as head coach of Holger Rune. We started the cooperation with the initial goal of coming to the Final ATP Masters last year, but after that we decided that for our success I need to be much more present than what I can. Due to professional and private commitments, I cannot give Holger what he needs now. I wish him only the best and I will always be his biggest fan. I sincerely respect what we went through together. Boris Becker,” Nokemac announced.
Holger Rune is currently the seventh-ranked tennis player in the world, he is 20 years old, and at the recent Australian Open he achieved a disappointing result, as he was the eighth seed, and was eliminated in the second round, in a duel against the outsider from France, Artur Kazot, who appeared in the tournament with the organizer’s invitation.
Becker and Rune have been working together since October 2023 and it was the German legend’s return to tennis after he was jailed in Great Britain. Becker insisted that Rune perform without a cap on his head and without jewelry, so that it would not interfere with him during matches and which also benefited him during his great playing career. Rune listened to him and in their first tournament together, in Basel, they reached the semi-finals. However, that cooperation did not last.
Let us remind you that Becker declared bankruptcy in 2017 and in April 2022 he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for hiding his assets. He was released on December 15, 2022, after serving eight months in prison and was deported to Germany.
