Less than a decade ago, Bridgit Mendler was considered a rising star capable of easily competing with emerging artists such as Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. However, the pop singer and Disney Channel teen actress hasn’t released new music since 2017 and her last on-screen role was in 2019. The reason? She was earning a doctorate from the prestigious MIT and, at the same time, earning her doctorate from Harvard Law School. But her efforts don’t end with academics, as she recently added a new facet to her resume as CEO of the startup Northwood Space.

The company, focused on satellite data innovation, has the mission of creating a “data highway between Earth and space,” facilitating access to communication with the outside world, Mendler commented in a conversation with CNBC. She added that her “love” for space law was cultivated during her work at the Federal Communications Commission’s Space Office during 2022 and was encouraged by her husband and co-founder, engineer Griffin Cleverly.

The artist gained notoriety at Disney with the role of Teddy Duncan in the comedy Good Luck Charlie!, which aired from 2010 to 2014 for four seasons. There she played a young woman who creates a series of video diaries with life advice for her younger sister, establishing a strong connection with the audience. Prior to this job, she had a recurring role on Wizards of Waverly Place, where she played vampire Juliet van Heusen.

In 2018, Mendler played Meredith in Daddies with Honors, directed by Tyler Spindel. This project was rated as one of the worst Netflix titles, with a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes. After this experience she carries out her latest project in front of the cameras as Emmy Quinn in the 2019 sitcom Happy Whatever You Want.

His talent in music became evident after the release of Lemonade Mouth (2011). The film stars Mendler as Olivia White, a shy student with an exceptional voice. She forms a band with other young people who challenge the rules of her school and eventually come together to express her dreams, frustrations, and hopes through her songs.
