Center has free exhibition of the Porto de Santos Museum

The boulevard of Rua Quinze de Novembro (Historic Center), recently renovated by the City of Santos, took on a festive atmosphere on Friday night (12) with the opening of the Expo Museu do Porto de Santos. The exhibition is accessible to the public at the headquarters of the Santos Commercial Association (ACS), in partnership with the Santos Port Authority (APS) and support from the Municipal Administration.

In the exhibition, set up at the main entrance of the building, it is possible to see some of the pieces that make up the Porto Museum, equipment that has a collection of approximately two thousand items, including documents, photographs, nautical instruments, tools and a series of rarities that preserve and narrate details of the history and development of Porto and the city of Santos over the years.

Among the pieces on display, there is a two-wheeled fire apparatus, from 1930, a hand-crank telephone set, from the 1940s, and a cinematographic projector, from 1938, which was used in the cinema at the Itatinga Hydroelectric Plant.

In addition to learning a little about the history of the largest port in Latin America, visitors can also take advantage of an Instagrammable space to take a photo using a cap similar to that of the Navy on a helm, a space that has as a backdrop the staircase of the century-old ACS building , where authorities such as former President of the Republic Juscelino Kubitschek have passed.

PORTO-CITY

“In this Porto-City relationship, this exhibition is essential for people to know the importance that this development of Porto brings to the progress of Santos”, comments the municipal secretary of Port Affairs and Employment, Elias Francisco Junior. According to him, initiatives like this help to move the Historic Center of Santos, “so important for promoting economic development and, consequently, the generation of jobs and income in the City”.

The president of ACS, Mauro Sammarco, states that the entity has a schedule of exhibitions planned to move the Central Region. “This is the point of delivery that the Commercial Association makes, opening this event space for tourists and residents to coexist here in this area, with the Rua Quinze boulevard, which has become so beautiful. We have a series of ideas to always bring something that is of interest, with a connection to the history of the City and the Center.”

“It is important that we value the Port-City relationship. This event represents this integration, as it takes place on this street recently revitalized by City Hall, with this building that represents the history of the City, and which is now publicizing the history of the largest logistics equipment in the Southern Hemisphere, exposing equipment that reveals the importance of Porto de Santos”, assesses the president of APS, Anderson Pomini.

SCHEDULE

The Expo Museu do Porto de Santos can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm, at the Associação Comercial de Santos, located at Rua Quinze de Novembro, 137 (Centro). Entry is free.
