Challenge Tour: four Italians at the Kolkata Challenge in India

Aron Zemmer, Pietro Bovari, Gregorio De Leo and Luca Cianchetti will be competing at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club

Second and final seasonal stage of the Challenge Tour in India where the Kolkata Challenge is scheduled (21-24 March), organized in collaboration with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), in which four Italians participate: Aron Zemmer, Pietro Bovari, Gregorio De Leo and Luca Cianchetti.

On the course of the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, in Kolkata, there will be three seasonal winners in the field, who are also the highest ranked players in the Road To Mallorca (order of merit): the Englishman John Parry, number one and fresh from success in the previous Delhi Challenge, the Swede Mikael Lindberg, number 2, scored in the Cape Town Open, and the other Swede Björn Åkesson, number 5, won the NMB Championship. Three other competitors in the top ten: the English Sam Hutsby (n. 6) and Chris Paysley (n. 8), and the French Martin Couvra (n. 7).

They are all among the favorites in the predictions on the eve of a list that includes many other participants, among which we remember the English Jack Senior, Jamie Rutherford and Ashley Chesters, the Scot Euan Walker, the Finn Tapio Pulkkanen and Joshua Grenville-Wood of the United Arab Emirates United. Among the 56 Indians, determined to do well, they have what it takes to propose themselves at the top SSP Chawrasia and Gaganjeet Bhullar, respectively four titles and one title on the DP World Tour, and Om Prakashil Chouhan, one on the Challenge Tour. Also competing are Frenchman Alexander Levy and the Spaniard Alejandro Cañizares, who have experienced better times on the major circuit where they also won (first five times and the Iberian twice), and the Indian Arjun Atwal, now 50 years old, one of the best home athletes, the first to play and win on the PGA Tour (Wyndham Championship, 2010). His list also includes three successes on the DP World Tour and five on the Asian Tour.

Of the Italians, Zemmer offered a good performance in the Delhi Challenge (12th), where Bovari ranked 53rd. However, all four have not yet found the right pace and their performance is rather mixed. The prize money is 300,000 dollars (approximately 275,000 euros).
