China News Service, July 14. According to Reuters, on the 13th local time, the first round of voting for the new leader of the British Conservative Party ended. The results showed that former British Chancellor of the Exchequer Sunak received the most votes (88 votes).

Former Defence Secretary Mordaunt (67 votes) and Foreign Secretary Truss (50 votes) followed, while former Foreign Secretary Hunt and Finance Minister Zahavi were out for not getting enough votes.

According to the previously announced election rules, 358 Conservative Party members of the House of Commons will conduct multiple rounds of voting for the remaining candidates, and finally lock in two candidates, and then all Conservative Party members will vote, and the winner will become the new party leader and the new British Prime Minister.

Earlier, Johnson announced on the 7th that he would resign as the leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister, but will remain in office until a new leader is produced.
