by admin

Five million Portuguese, half of the population, have been imposed a new night curfew in an attempt to curb a spike in the epidemic due to the already predominant Delta variant. The measure concerns the 45 most affected municipalities, located mainly in the regions of Lisbon and the Algarve (to the south), but also in important cities in the north of the country such as Porto or Braga.

Checkpoints in Indonesia

Indonesian police activated over 400 checkpoints on the islands of Java and Bali to ensure that hundreds of millions of people stayed home on the first day of stringent traffic restrictions to limit the spread of the pandemic. While battling one of the worst coronavirus outbreaks in Asia, the fourth most populous nation in the world has experienced record new infections in eight of the past 12 days, with Friday leading to 25,830 cases and and 539 deaths.
