The world-renowned country star is dead, it appears in his social media. He must have been ill with cancer for a while.
A post on his Instagram profile reads:
“Toby Keith passed away peacefully on the night of February 5 surrounded by his family. He fought the battle with courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.”
Keith is one of America’s biggest country artists of the last 30 years. He came up with the breakthrough single “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” in 1993.

He had great commercial success in the early and mid-2000s, also in Norway. Songs such as “I Love This Bar” and “As Good as I Once Was” and a number of compilation albums have been on the hit lists in this country.

The country legend revealed in the summer of 2022 that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021.
In front of Dagbladet, artist and presenter for P10 Country, Jenny Jenssen, describes the death as very sad.
– It has seemed that things have gone well and that he was ready to get back on stage, but then he may have been more ill than one thought. It’s just sad. Cancer is a brutal disease.
Jenssen never met Keith in person, but he still made an impression.

– I just think “what an artist”. He had the whole package. Not only did he sing well, but he built up his own brand. I had a desire to experience him live, he was absolutely raw. Definitely one of the biggest.
Now she hopes that his music will live on.
– It is a great voice that has gone out. He was an artist who really made it and a great role model for me. It is a legend that has now passed away.
Several of the late singer’s fans have left condolences and messages of grief on the Instagram post.

“We love you, Toby. I am heartbroken. Your music will live on forever, legend,” writes one follower.
“God bless you and your family. It’s hard to imagine America without Toby Keith,” writes another.
– Suddenly started to cry
A third person writes that his heart is broken.
Keith is survived by his wife Tricia Lucas, as well as their three children Shelley, Krystal and Stelen. He also has four grandchildren.
The singer was 62 years old.
