Macron emerges weakened by the French elections, without a clear parliamentary majority. Draghi is tossed between the political convulsions of a dying M5S and Salvini’s substantial unreliability in foreign policy. Scholz, in the most benevolent of interpretations, continues to mimic Angela Merkel’s acrobatics without seeing that the times require a Chancellor of a very different temper and without the Ukrainians having yet seen the weapons promised by Germany.
