Egypt unearths five ancient tombs 4,000 years old

Five new ancient tombs have been discovered in the area, with objects found in the tombs dating back to the Old Kingdom of Egypt in the 27th century BC.
According to Mustafa Waziri, secretary-general of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, the five tombs are well preserved and buried five ancient Egyptians with different positions and occupations. One of the tombs belonged to a high-ranking statesman named Iri, with a shaft leading to the burial chamber, with frescoes detailing the funeral rites held for him at the time, a large lime sarcophagus and Sculpture belonging to the owner of the tomb. According to a previous statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Saqqara region has seen several major archaeological discoveries over the past few years.
