Ever Almeida: “The rival defended himself, it is a very harsh punishment”
After the defeat, Ever Almeida, coach of El Nacional, gave his feelings about the match: “We can’t draw conclusions so quickly because we lost a game. The team trained and went out to play without official matches. It’s the second game, putting together a squad… But in everything Trinidense came to do their job, they defended themselves well, they counterattacked and we suffered from something that always happens to us: the number of goal opportunities we created and missed.”
And he added, in tone to the rival’s position: “It is a very harsh punishment, but that’s not why I’m going to start criticizing players. We have chosen the team, we are in a very special situation and we have to continue working, with tremendous pain because we had the hope of being able to get through this and go further. But when you waste your options, the opponent comes prepared and what happened happened in a counterattack. Yes, we are very hurt by the result as it happened.”
