With “Scars” Floryan has the deciding show of “I want to go to the ESC!” won. This means he gets the last free place in the German preliminary round “Eurovision Song Contest – The German Final 2024”.
The 28-year-old singer from Künzelsau prevailed against his fellow candidates Anne Im and Luca M. Wefes in the live show on Thursday evening. Actually there would have been four of them in the field, but one day before the show Bibiane Z had to cancel her participation due to illness. Floryan’s next hurdle on his way to the ESC is on February 16th. Then he sings in the ESC preliminary round alongside Galant, Isaak, Leona, Bodine Monet, Max Mutzke, NinetyNine, Marie Reim and Ryk for the ticket to Malmö.

From the cover band to the ESC stage?
Floryan first came into contact with music during his school days. There he tried out annual choir performances and large musical productions and was even allowed to play the main character of Professor Higgins in the musical “My Fair Lady”. He has been a big ESC fan since his youth. At least since Lena’s victory in Oslo in 2010. After Floryan was mainly active in cover bands, the time has now come for him to stand alone on stage.

When Floryan is not on stage, he is currently completing a master’s degree in music management at the Popakademie Mannheim. The 28-year-old has now moved north for a practical semester. What he loves about Hamburg is the freedom of development that the city offers him. There he finally feels like he is better understood and can be himself. And from Hamburg – it’s just one change and two trains away from Malmö.
With a very personal song in the German ESC final
His song “Scars”, with which he will compete in “Eurovision Song Contest – The German Final 2024”, is about the fact that everyone has experienced injuries in their life – including Floryan himself. However, every scar can represent a challenge that you can grow from. It was also challenging for Floryan to be able to classify his emotions after his success. Floryan’s coach Rea Garvey is also proud of his protégé:

After the show, Floryan said that he would now prepare well for the German final, practice the song well and think of a nice production.
