Concern is growing for Alberto Livoni, the Italian aid worker arrested in Ethiopia. Livoni, as he revealed Republic, on November 6 he was stopped by government forces: he ended up in one of the raids launched by the premier’s security apparatus Abiy Ahmed, who are putting missionaries, NGO volunteers and even employees of UN agencies in jail. The climate of siege that is experienced in Addis Ababa in the face of the advance of the coalition led by the Tigrinya militias is animating a ruthless repression against anyone suspected of relations with the region attacked a year ago by the Ethiopian army.
